Spice Blending Workshop
hosted by Mayomi Basnayaka
Coriander, Turmeric, Cinnamon, Cloves, Black Pepper, Nutmeg, and much much more.
From Sri Lankan Thunapaha (Curry Powder) to Dutch Speculaas (Sweet Spice Mix), this workshop invites you to explore the world of spices rooted in the Sri Lankan kitchen. Mayomi will share the historical connections of the spice trade and monopoly between Sri Lanka and the West, followed by a sensory experimentation into what makes each spice unique. Together we’ll learn how to toast and grind spices, discover traditional blends, and also experiment with creating your own spice mix.
Please join this sensorial workshop on September 14th at 14:00, hosted at the 4Siblings Garden at Buurtwerkplaats Noorderhof. Please sign up by writing your name in the link sheet BELOW.
