Fire Days with Yasser Ballemans
Time: 12pm - 15pm
Location: Four Siblings Labyrinth, Tom Schreursweg 40

As autumn nears and nature shifts, we revisit a timeless practice – farmers kindling roaring fires to mark harvest and transformation. This fiery ritual purified the land, paving the way for growth.
With harvest on the horizon and daylight waning, Yasser extends an invitation to kindle our inner fire, unearthing our dormant dragons. What challenges were once concealed by summer's glow? Which dragons must we face to grow? Confronting these dragons is our crucible. Do we combat, evade, or harness them?
During the Dragon Eggs Workshop participants will make their wooden sculptures with the help and after a short introduction by Yasser Ballemans. At the end of the workshop the sculptures will be put together so they form a “kiln” in a dragon shape. The work will be visible for circa 2 weeks at the Four Siblings garden.
The workshop is open to anyone aged 12 and older. Prior experience in sculpture-making is not required.
Limited spots available. Please send us an email to reserve your spot.
Yasser Ballemans is interested in the role of art in rituals, such as parades, campfires, carnival and commemorations. He researches how ornaments, decorations and “old-fashioned” techniques can be used in a contemporary way. Collective artistic practices play a major role in his ongoing research into the role of art in the much needed social and political innovations. His approach to making is distinctive in that he places a strong emphasis on collaboration with local residents to create art that reflects their desires and aspirations for a particular public space.
